The Lafayette Girls Golf team finished day one just one shot behind after the first day of the MISSHSAA 5A Girl’s State Championship on 10/. Only one shot behind east central, the Commodore girls went on to play the final round the next day. The team finished as state runners-up.
The girls that achieved this honor for the Lafayette Commodores were Ada Grace Everett, Elliot Clark, Ella Covington, and Ainslee Everett.
The team had been preparing and practicing for the whole season, putting their impressive skills to the test at the state championship, and emerged in the top 3 teams in Mississippi.
“It was very stressful with having two state championships in the span of four days, It was very mentally and physically draining. But it was so relieving when we got second. ” said Ainslee Everett, a sophomore on the golf team, after completing the tournament.
