Getting to know Mrs. Curry!

Mrs. Curry is our secretary for our counseling center, this is her first year in this position at LHS. 

CMG: “Who am I here with today?”

Mrs. Curry: “ My name is Shaquita Curry.”

CMG: What do you do at Lafayette?

Mrs. Curry: “I am the secretary at the counseling center of Lafayette high school.”

CMG: “Did you imagine you would be a counselor secretary when you were younger?”

Mrs. Curry: “I didn’t imagine I would be a counseling secretary, but I’ve always been an admin and I’ve always enjoyed my role as admin.” 

CMG: “How is this job/school different from your past job/school?”

Mrs. Curry: “This job would be different because I am able to assist students with their everyday needs and to help them reach their dreams and goals.”

CMG: “What is your favorite part about this job?”

Mrs. Curry: “My favorite part about this job is being able to assist students and guide them in the right direction and onto the right path to reach their dreams and goals.”

CMG: “What would students be surprised to find out about you?”

Mrs. Curry: ”Students would be surprised to find out that there is a basket in my office that holds motivational notes to help get them through their day and help motivate and support them.”

CMG: “How did you feel about highschool when you were a student?”

Mrs. Curry: As a student in high school I had teachers and 

administrators that cared about my future and the decisions I made, and I want to make sure I give that back to my students now. “

CMG: “How long have you been in this profession?”

Mrs. Curry: “I’ve been an admin for over 12 years but I’ve been the counselor secretary here just starting this year, and I’m excited to see where this goes.”
