When it comes to community, the county is a perfect example of showing love and support for those in need. Commodores Care has been working for 2 years now to provide food, clothes, and basic necessities to Lafayette county students.
Started by Molly Harwell and Leah Christman, Commodores Care’s mission to positively affect lives in Oxford and Lafayette county has been underway since 2021.
Commodores Care hosts fundraisers to collect money for clothes provided to children at school who need them in emergencies and in case they can’t find clothes the right size. During longer breaks like holidays, they send children home with meals to get them through the extended break. They recently hosted a food drive in conjunction with the Community Church of Oxford to stock their pantry, and are currently accepting donations at Sugar Magnolia for leggings and joggers for older students.
Their goal is to continue to provide for those in need in the county, as well as inspire others to do the same. Lafayette County wouldn’t be the same without them, and their contributions to our community are what makes it so incredible.
