As homecoming is upon us, there are many lively events taking place. The homecoming dance, parade, and football game will be filled with lots of entertainment.
Homecoming Dance
To kick off, the Lafayette Student Council is putting on a homecoming dance for Lafayette students. Taking place on October 15th, from eight to eleven p.m, the dance will be located in the high school commons.
To attend this event, students must purchase a five dollar ticket from a student council member. They can be found selling tickets before school, during break, and during your lunch period from September 26th to the 30th. Please keep in mind that ticket sales are limited.
The attire is semi-formal, Freshman Emma-Claire Houston shared, “I am wearing a ruched, white, cocktail dress with red heels.” Sophomore Evan Bynum also added, “I am wearing a button down dress shirt with some khaki pants.”
Homecoming Parade
The parade will take place on Tuesday, October 18th, showcasing lots of Lafayette spirit honoring the 2022 Court. This will take place at six pm starting at the Lower Elementary and ending at the football field. Many different clubs, sports, and businesses will take part in the parade. Float registration has already closed, but make sure to still attend, as last year’s parade was rained out.
The Court
Maids and escorts have also been elected in each grade to represent their class. Representing the freshmen class are Jenna Lampton, Chaz Austin, Ava May, and Demarcus King. Sophomore representatives are Mallory Fleming, Hunter Smith, Avery Neal, and Evan Bynum. The juniors are Katelyn Kirkendall, Foster Crockett, Alexandra Lampton, and Jack-Wyatt East. Lastly, representing the senior class are Madison Buford, Crosse Lindsay, Julia Perkins, Caiden Cox, Grace Foster, Noah Robinson, Aiyanah Jones, and Hayden Hicks. Others like Emma Mccoy, Alex Alvarez, and Elosia Bautisa are also going to help represent Lafayette.
The Game
The Homecoming football game will be on October 21, at home against Cleveland Central. The Homecoming court will be presented during this game at half-time.
Special thanks to the student council sponsors, Cole Loper and Marisa Atkinson, who have made all of this possible.
