There are so many students and staff members quarantining because of Covid-19. Having to work from home and not being able to get out is putting stress on the students and staff members.

Fear and anxiety can be overwhelming during quarantine and everyone reacts differently to stressful situations. The coronavirus pandemic has put us all in a situation where we have to take cautions such as social distancing and quarantining. This has caused people to feel isolated and lonely.

Taking care of family and friends can relieve stress. Phone calls and video chats with friends and family can help you and others feel socially connected and less isolated.

One of the best ways to cope with stress over quarantine is to stick to your regular schedule. Eat regular meals and have break times when you typically would.

Sleep schedules are so important. Try to have a routine and avoid staying in bed for longer than 8 hours a day. When people do not have commitments for the next day, there can be a tendency to stay in bed, sleep in longer, and go to bed later. This can throw off your sleep cycle and leave you feeling groggy, unmotivated, and down.

Communicare counselor Kim Philips says to keep a balanced schedule, eat healthy, stay connected with friends and family, stay active, and make sure that you don’t fall behind in things you need to do. If you fall behind you will likely be more stressed and unmotivated to finish your work. Try meditating to relieve stress and be creative.
