This Friday, September 13th, Commodores will be facing Oxford Chargers for the 49th year. The Crosstown Classic will be held at William L. Buford stadium (Lafayette field). The kickoff will be at 7 pm, Friday night. Crosstown classic is where Lafayette, 5A school will be competing with the school in the same area Oxford, which is a 6A school.

Although the teams are competing with each other, it does not count on the record of wins and losses because of the difference in the school divisions. Crosstown classic is more for fun and just to get the community together, every year around the same time.Crosstown classic was named roughly 25 years ago.

Students, fans, parents, and loved ones of the players in the past seemed to enjoy it, so you do not want to miss this event. Entry is 7 dollars and if you have a state pass you will be able to get through the gate. For students at Lafayette the tickets are $1, so bring your $1 Friday to get your ticket. You can also purchase tickets from local areas. LHS, LMS, University Sporting Goods, Big Star, Rebel Rags, Allen Samuels and Cannon Motors will all be selling tickets.

Lafayette Media Group will be also be going live, so if you won’t be able to come, check on the Lafayette District page on Facebook Friday and click on the link of the live to stay tuned and cheer on the football team.

Lafayette football team will be practicing all this week to get ready for the “storm”. Commodore fans be the anchor and come on out to cheer on your Lafayette varsity football team, so they can beat those Chargers!
