Lafayette JV and varsity lost to South Panola in the Friday jamboree. They both lost 0-14. Lafayette struggled a lot through the game, but it opened an eye for the coaches, so they can work with the players to get them where they need to be.
Defense coach, Carter Norris says, “I think the biggest issue for Jv was inexperience, in game-type situations. There were alot of guys playing highschool for the first time.” There were many fumbles in the game on Friday night, for Jv. There were also other little mistakes that could be worked on.
Although Jv struggled, Conor Rucker almost scored a touchdown. His hands slipped from the ball causing a fumble.
Varsity played Friday and they also struggled. Norris states, “It’s hard to win a game when missing tackles, it’s hard to win a game with the ball on the ground, but I do like the direction we’re heading.”
Jv and varsity will be practicing Monday-Thursday, so they will be ready to take on Cleveland Wolves.
